TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

1. Awaken Your Five Senses (Immersive Nature Therapy)

  • Touch: Dip your hands directly into the mountain stream and feel the refreshing temperature of pure snowmelt.

  • Sight: Examine lush green moss gardens up close using jeweler’s loupes (magnifying lenses) provided by your guide.

  • Smell: Inhale the sweet, cotton-candy aroma of fallen Katsura leaves and the rich, oxygenating scent of old-growth Japanese beech trees.

  • Sound: Listen to the rhythmic melody of tumbling waters and native woodland birds.

2. The Story of Water: From Snow to Sake & Asian Pears

Learn how winter snows in this heavy snowfall region seep into the porous forest floor, undergoing a decades-long natural filtration process through beech roots and granite earth. Discover how this ultra-pure water directly sustains 10 historic local sake breweries in the region and yields the famous 20th Century Asian Pears (Nijusseiki Nashi), connecting wild nature to Japanese agricultural craft.

3. The Trio of Moroga Waterfalls

Explore three distinct, breathtaking cascades nestled within the valley:

  • Deai Falls (Deai-no-Taki / "Meeting Waterfall"): Where two cascading streams converge into a turquoise natural basin.

  • Ooshika Falls (Ooshika-taki / "Great Deer Waterfall"): A dramatic, misty plunge surrounded by rock face and dense foliage.

  • Unryu Falls (Unryu-no-Taki / "Cloud Dragon Waterfall"): A winding, mysterious waterfall named after the mythical dragon rising into mountain mists.

4. Stress-Free Access & Forest Base

Enjoy smooth, comfortable transit with our free shuttle service directly from Tanhi Station (Wakasa Railway). The tour begins and ends at Harto Furusato no Mori (八東ふる里の森), an eco-friendly forest retreat equipped with clean amenities, resting areas, and local hospitality.
